Universal Motors, provide coil pack repairs and replacement services. The coil pack is an electronically controlled pack of ignition coils controlled by the computer and is used to create the spark for each engine cylinder’s spark plug.
If a coil pack is damaged, there will be a loss of fire or spark in one or more cylinders. This causes what’s commonly known as engine misfiring. Engine misfiring can cause drag on the crankshaft and results in a very poor engine performance.
Here are some of the common signs that show that coil pack is damaged:
- Unusual engine noise
- A rough idle
- Noticeable lack of power
- Noticeable drop in RPMs while driving at a high speed.
- A blinking engine light
- An active fuel warning light when the vehicle has plenty of fuel
